Aboriginal Affairs partners with Aboriginal organisations in OCHRE’s (Opportunity, Choice, Healing, Responsibility and Empowerment) Local Decision-Making initiative to improve service design, planning and delivery. The local decision-making initiative recognises that when Aboriginal people and communities make their own decisions, they consistently out-perform external decision-makers. This allows Aboriginal communities to have a genuine voice in determining what and how services are delivered to their communities.
The NSW Government provides services in all parts of NSW, and the make-up of the local community is an important factor in what services it provides and how. The geographic distribution and other factors relating to the Aboriginal population in NSW should help inform service delivery to your local community.
