Reconciliation Australia and Reconciliation Week

In 2001, the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation founded Reconciliation Australia as the national body for reconciliation. Reconciliation Australia has a vision for a just, equitable and reconciled Australia. It is working to inspire and enable all Australians to contribute to reconciliation.

Each year, from 27 May to 3 June, people celebrate National Reconciliation Week to commemorate the successful 1967 referendum and the Mabo decision. The week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about Aboriginal history and culture, and to explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation.

The theme for 2021 – More than a word. Reconciliation takes action – asks for a whole-of-community response. Drawing on the strength of Reconciliation Australia’s 20th anniversary, let us come together, and take action for Reconciliation. Source: Reconciliation Australia
